How the UAE Advertiser Permit Impacts Influencers, Creators, and Brands

The UAE launched the Advertiser Permit on July 30, 2025, a UAE Media Council regulation aimed at regulating and professionalizing online advertising. It is for anyone who publishes promotional or commercial content on social media websites such as Instagram, TikTok, or YouTube.

What is the Advertiser Permit?

The license allows individuals and companies the freedom to publish paid or unpaid promotional material online. Its intention is to provide transparency, consumer protection, and professionalism in the UAE online advertising market.

Who Needs It?

  • UAE citizens and residents over 18 promoting content.

  • Influencers and content creators engaging in collaborations or sponsorships.

  • Foreign influencers marketing within the UAE (through a Visitor Permit).

Who Doesn't Pay?

  • Individuals marketing their own goods or services.

  • Creators below 18 years in sport, cultural, or educational sectors.

Validity and Use

  • Residents & citizens: 1-year validity, renewable.

  • Visitors: 3-month validity, renewable.

  • Free during the initial three years for UAE residents and nationals.

  • Applications are made online through the UAE Media Council website. Succeeding advertisers will be required to post their permit number on social media.

Why It Matters

The Advertiser Permit fosters trust, fairness, and professionalism in the UAE's digital economy. For business and creators, compliance is not a choice, it's a requirement for growth.
