Kannauj Attars: A Scented Legacy
In what is known as the Perfume Capital of India, Kannauj has had a fragrance manufacturing tradition for a thousand years. In the presence of age-old steam distillation in copper stills, Kannauj artisans gently blend sandalwood oil with flowers, herbs, and roots which is the method of bringing out the essence of each material without the use of alcohol.
In the Kannauj tradition, we still use the same methods for our attar as our forefathers did. From rose and jasmine to vetiver and kewra water, each bottle is a story of India.
