I Came for Milk, I Leave with Regret
I Came for Milk, I Leave with Regret

Hi my name is me. I go Amerika trip with my body (and soul). I hungry because I am human. So I go to grocery store. Not one. Not two. But three place: Hilton Head, Georgia, and Gatlinburg (don’t ask me where is that, I just go).

I arrive in Hilton Head and I say wow. So many tree. So many rich people with golf stick. But no rice. I cry. Then I go to Kroger. Big place. Inside is cold. I find egg, milk, and many food that I don’t know how to cook. I also see man with dog inside cart. Dog look rich too. I buy bread but forgot peanut butter. My heart broken.

Then I see Publix. I think it's public toilet, but no! It’s another store. More fancy. I buy hot chicken and soda. I eat at parking lot like real American.

In Georgia, I lost. I think I in Atlanta but Google Map say no. I go to gas station, ask “Where food?” Man say “Down the road, son.” I not his son but okay.

I go Walmart. Wow. Big big store. You can buy banana, gun, and tire in same place. I buy banana only, I not need gun today. I also go to Aldi, small but cute. I bring my own bag but forgot quarter for cart. I fight cart with hand. Cart win.

Food in Georgia is tasty. I buy weird chip with pickle flavor. My tongue scream. But I like it.

Gatlinburg is mountain land. So many hill. I drive car like roller coaster. Here grocery store is little different. I find one store name Food City. Sounds like food have government. Inside, many snack. I find moon pie and think “wow, America love moon.”

People here very friendly. Old lady say “Honey, you lost?” I say “No, I just dumb.” She laugh. I buy fried chicken and sit outside. Bear not come, so I safe.

I also go to local store. Small, but owner say “Welcome y’all!” I feel warm in heart. I buy hot sauce. Now my stomach hot too.

So now I know. Grocery store is not just for buy food. It is place of adventure, of dream, of big fridge that make you cold. If you go to Hilton Head, go to Kroger and Publix. If you go to Georgia, go to Walmart and Aldi but bring coin. If you go to Gatlinburg, eat chicken and look out for bear (no hug bear!).

That’s my story. Thank you for reading. If you want more story, send me rice. I miss rice. Bye bye!
