The Poon Hill Trek was my first trek in Nepal. It was short, easy, and amazing.
I didn’t have much time, but I still wanted to see the mountains. A friend told me about Poon Hill. I’m so glad I listened.
What Is the Poon Hill Trek?
Poon Hill is a popular short trek in the Annapurna region. Most people finish it in 3 to 5 days. It’s perfect for beginners. You don’t need to be super fit to enjoy it.
The highest point is Poon Hill at 3,210 meters (10,531 feet). You don’t need special gear or experience.
What I Saw
Each day, I walked through small villages, green forests, and quiet paths. I heard birds singing and water flowing. The air felt fresh.
The best part was the sunrise at Poon Hill. I woke up early and hiked in the dark with a flashlight. When the sun came up, the mountains turned gold. I saw Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, and Machapuchare shining in the morning light.
It was the most beautiful view I’ve ever seen.
The People
The local people were kind and smiling. I stayed in small tea houses. The food was warm and tasty especially the dal bhat (rice and lentils).
Other trekkers were friendly too. We shared stories by the fire at night.
