Spray drying is a technique for drying liquids, solutions, and thin slurries; it turns them into powder form. A thin droplet dispersion of the liquid or slurry material to be dried is sprayed into a heated airstream. Either air and material move in counterflow or parallel directions. Since the material is not exposed to heat for an extended period of time throughout the drying process, the spray dryer is perfect for drying materials with high heat selectivity.
