As can be observed in the figure, technology / product utilization agreements (24%) emerged as the most popular type of partnership model adopted by players in this domain, followed by product development agreements (19%).

Further, most of the partnerships were inked for multi organ based models (36%), followed by liver based models (19%). It is worth highlighting that the current partnership activity (in terms of number of intercontinental and intracontinental agreements) is concentrated in Europe.

Close to 350 grants have been awarded for ongoing research and development efforts for organ-on-a-chip products and technologies; national center for advancing translational sciences has awarded the maximum grant amount. The Majority (37%) of the total grants in this domain is issued by National Centre for Advancing Translational Sciences. This is followed by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (14%). Further, it is worth highlighting that currently, majority (10%) of the academic grants in this domain are received by University of California.
