Finding the right home and support is one of the most important decisions anyone can make, but for people living with disability, it can be especially life-changing. At Christian Care, we believe everyone deserves to live in a place that feels like home, surrounded by people who respect their choices, culture, and aspirations. That’s why our Individualised Living Options (ILO) are designed to put you at the centre-giving you the freedom to choose where and how you live, and who supports you along the way.
What Are Individualised Living Options (ILO)?
Individualised Living Options are a flexible, person-centred package of supports funded by the NDIS. Unlike traditional models, ILO isn’t about fitting you into a pre-set arrangement. Instead, it’s about designing a living situation that works for you-whether that means living with a host, sharing with housemates, or living independently with the right supports in place.
ILO is delivered in two main stages:
- Exploration and Design: We help you explore your options, decide where and with whom you want to live, and identify the supports you’ll need.
- Implementation: Once you’ve made your choices, we put the supports in place, monitor your wellbeing, and adapt as your needs or preferences change.
Why Choose Christian Care for Your ILO Journey?
At Christian Care, our approach is built on compassion, respect, and a deep understanding of diversity. This means we can match you with support workers who understand your language, culture, and unique perspective-breaking down barriers and making you feel truly at home.
Our Core Values:
- Diversity and Inclusion: We celebrate all backgrounds, beliefs, and lifestyles, ensuring you feel seen and heard.
- Personalised Support: No two people are the same, so your living arrangement and supports are tailored to your goals, routines, and aspirations.
- Community Connection: We help you build relationships and participate in your local community, fostering a sense of belonging and purpose.
How Does ILO Work at Christian Care?
ILO is not about providing a house, but about building the supports that make your chosen living arrangement successful. Here’s how we make it work for you:
1. Exploring Your Options
Our experienced coordinators work closely with you (and your family or advocates if you wish) to understand your vision for home. Do you want to live:
- With a non-related host who provides a supportive family environment?
- With housemates who share your interests and values?
- On your own, with tailored in-home supports?
- With a co-resident or mentor who can offer companionship and assistance?
We listen to your goals, assess your current supports, and help you imagine what independent living could look like for you.
2. Designing Your Support Plan
Once you’ve chosen your preferred living arrangement, we design a support plan that covers:
- Personal care and daily living assistance
- Skill-building for independence (like cooking, budgeting, or travel training)
- Emotional and social support
- On-call or emergency support options
- Ongoing monitoring and adjustment to keep your arrangement safe and sustainable
We blend formal (paid) and informal (family, friends, community) supports, making sure you have the right mix for your needs and lifestyle.
3. Implementing and Adapting
After your plan is approved, Christian Care puts everything in place-matching you with support workers, setting up routines, and checking in regularly. If your needs or circumstances change, we’re flexible and quick to adapt, ensuring your home life remains stable and empowering.
