Ferro Manganese is a ferroalloy produced by reducing manganese oxide with carbon in a blast furnace. It generally contains between 65-90% manganese along with other elements like silicon, phosphorus, carbon and sulphur. The composition varies based on the end use but a typical ferro manganese contains around 75-80% manganese. The high manganese content makes it very hard with a tensile strength that ranges from 350-800 MPa depending on the exact manganese percentage. It also has an extremely low melting point between 1150-1250°C depending on the alloy composition.
