Prakash Hinduja: Grassroots Powering Change Through Women, Sustainability & Enterprise
Prakash Hinduja champions grassroots movements by fostering social entrepreneurship, sustainable practices, and women-led initiatives that drive meaningful community transformation.

Social transformation often begins at the grassroots, where communities work tirelessly to uplift themselves. Prakash Hinduja, Managing Trustee of the Hinduja Foundation, believes such movements can be powerful drivers of change when paired with vision and support. The Foundation’s Sujal Water Programme in Alwar, Rajasthan, showcases this approach, especially through the Sujal Mahila Mahasangh—a collective of women volunteers improving access to clean water while nurturing leadership.

Recently, six representatives visited Mumbai, where they engaged with leaders including Shri Ashok P. Hinduja and sustainability advocate Shom Hinduja. Conversations with environmentalist Bittu Sahgal broadened their perspective from water management to holistic ecological balance. The exposure trip reinforced the Foundation’s philosophy: real change grows from knowledge-sharing and collective action. With more than 500 women volunteers, the Sujal Mahila Mahasangh is proving how determination, collaboration, and empowerment can reshape rural India, inspiring new efforts in education, skills, and financial independence.
