MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500 is engineered to redefine mobile performance delivering powerful AI capabilities, console-class gaming, and significant efficiency gains all in a flagship chipset built for the next wave of 5G smartphones.
Architectural Leap: All Big-Core, More Cache, Smarter Memory
At its core, the Dimensity 9500 drops the traditional mix of “big + efficiency” cores in favor of a third-generation All Big Core design: one ultra core (4.21GHz), three premium cores, and four performance cores. This approach yields gains of 32% faster single-core performance and 17% higher multi-core speeds, while reducing peak power usage by up to 55% in certain workloads.
To support this horsepower, MediaTek integrates 4-lane UFS 4.1 storage, doubling read/write throughput and speeding up large AI model loads by ~40%. The chip also features larger L1 and L3 caches and a refined scheduling engine to balance responsiveness with thermal and power constraints.
Gaming & Graphics: Console Feel, Mobile Format
Gaming is a marquee strength of the Dimensity 9500. Its integrated Arm Mali G1-Ultra GPU delivers up to 33% higher peak performance along with 42% better power efficiency over previous generations.
Perhaps more compellingly, the chip supports 120 FPS ray tracing, enabling “console-level” realism on mobile displays. Through collaborations with studio ecosystems and support for Unreal Engine’s MegaLights and Nanite, the platform can power advanced real-time lighting and geometry at mobile scale.
AI & Agentic Capabilities: Smarter, On-Device
MediaTek isn’t just pushing performance, it's pushing intelligence. The NPU 990, paired with a Generative AI Engine 2.0, doubles compute power and enables processing of large models (e.g. 3 billion parameter LLMs) with better efficiency. It’s one of the first chipsets with compute-in-memory (CIM) support, which helps reduce power draw and makes burst AI tasks more efficient.
MediaTek claims it can support 4K image generation, longer token windows (128K tokens), and significantly faster inference all while improving energy efficiency by over 30% for AI operations.
Additionally, the chip introduces SME2 (Scalable Matrix Extension 2) instructions for AI workloads, which improve performance and energy efficiency in tasks like object detection and model inference.
