Khawaja Gharib Nawaz Mission and Early Life

He is famously known as Khwaja Gharib Nawaz. Hazrat Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti’s birth took place in 536 AD in the city of Chishty. Due to the destruction of the traditional Siafah, Khwaja Gharib Nawaz had to go through immense pain in his life. There was constant bloodshed and destruction because the region as a whole was facing rampaging Tartars, as well as rebel factions battling each other. All these forces severely exploited the unsophisticated governance system of Sultan Sanjar. In its glory, the civilization lasted for 6 centuries, which is indicative of the impact this region suffered.

Moving Into Neshapur

Due to the constant chaos that plagued Sistan, Khawaja Ghiyasuddin Hasan decided to relocate his family to Neshapur. This city was infamous for boasting all-integrative intelligence, an economy that was exceptionally strong and above all else: prosperity. The city also hosted one of the best universities in the region, a “Nizamia” University was known for its collection of well esteemed intellectuals, Sufis, scholars, and many other learned people making it a hotspot.

Khawaja Ghiyasuddin purchased a windmill and an orchard further allowing his family to rest in peace while the region around him burned down. This took place in a town called Rewand, a suburb known for its grape gardens and during this period, Rewand was exceptionally famous for its astonishing lush green fields combined with beautiful orchards.

Violence in Neshapur Turmoil in Neshapur

Neshapur, initially left with hope of peace, soon found itself coping with chaos. Sultan Sanjar could not overpower the invading forces, and his prolonged absence rendered the region leaderless. In addition, rebellious factions like the Qarmati and Baatini led to rampant internal conflict. These organizations vandalized, terrorized, and created a great number of suffering civilians. This young Khwaja Moinuddin saw havoc and oppression which changed his world view towards developing empathy and reformism drastically.

Loss and Reflection

Soon, a fresh sense of unrest surmounted. Khwaja Moinuddin lost his father in 551 AD along with his mother which in turn set off a spiral of chaos. The subsequent attacks on Neshapur alongside the horrid experience set off an everlasting mark on his psyche. He now found himself facing a reality filled with despise and avarice. Yet, instead of coming off as utterly hopeless, he questions what the true reason behind life along with humanity’s suffering was.

God’s Work

Khwaja Gharib Nawaz experienced the awakening of his spiritual self while witnessing the destruction taking place around him. He thought that some people might be chosen for a reason, to guide others in the good paths and offer them hope in incredibly hard situations. He dedicated himself to the cause of establishing peace, compassion, and reformation. His mission was clear – to help people walk on the right path regardless of the circumstances.

Cultivating a Timeless Reputation

Khwaja Gharib Nawaz’s struggles in his earlier years contributed to the formation of his character and determination. The struggles and grief he encountered in his life were stepping stones toward serving his purpose of being the beacon of hope for people in distress. The core principles of his life mission were determined by his noble teachings, selfless actions, and continuous efforts for peace. Even today, Ajmer Sharif Dargah India stands as a testament of his compassion and spirituality, where millions come to pay their respects.
