Emerson has introduced the Rosemount™ 802 Wireless Multi-Discrete Input/Output Transmitter, featuring eight configurable discrete I/O channels. Each channel can be set as an input or an output, allowing the transmitter to provide adaptable monitoring and control capabilities. With WirelessHART® technology, the Rosemount 802 connects to a wireless gateway, which in turn links to a host system — such as a control or asset management system — via a wired connection. This setup enables remote monitoring and control of assets through the WirelessHART network.
The Rosemount 802 transmitter, along with its predecessor, the Rosemount 702 Wireless Discrete Dual Input/Output Transmitter, are the only WirelessHART-enabled remote I/O transmitters currently available, supporting Emerson’s Boundless Automation™ vision of a flexible, wireless-enabled Intelligent Field for efficient deployment.
The wireless functionality of the Rosemount 802 transmitter significantly lowers the costs associated with monitoring and managing field-installed assets, like motors, valves, and pumps, which traditionally require either field visits by technicians or hardwired connections. By enabling remote monitoring, the Rosemount 802 reduces the need for technicians to enter potentially hazardous areas while maintaining essential input and output control from the host system.
With its eight I/O channels — compared to the two on the Rosemount 702 — the Rosemount 802 offers an efficient solution for sites with multiple assets that require individual monitoring and control. This makes it a more economical choice for multi-asset installations.
Powering options for the Rosemount 802 include a 10–30V DC external line or the Emerson SmartPower™ module, which offers up to eight years of maintenance-free operation without wiring and can be quickly replaced in the field.
The Rosemount 802 is certified to meet several safety standards, including ATEX Zone 2 Intrinsically Safe, USA Division 2 Non-Incendive and Zone 2 Intrinsically Safe, Canada Division 2 Non-Incendive and Zone 2 Intrinsically Safe, and IECEx Zone 2 Intrinsically Safe. Its enclosure meets NEMA® 4X and IP66 standards, ensuring robust protection in challenging environments…….Know More
