The Haryana government has cemented its leadership in agricultural policy by substantially raising the procurement prices for sugarcane, ensuring its farmers receive the highest rates in the nation just ahead of Diwali. This strategic move, championed by officials, is presented as a firm commitment to field development (Khet Vikas) and long-term financial security for growers.
Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini confirmed the price adjustment, describing the initiative as a meaningful holiday gift to the state's farming community. The updated structure introduces a uniform ₹15 increase per quintal across all varieties:
- Early Varieties: The rate climbs from ₹400 to a new high of ₹415 per quintal.
- Late Varieties: The rate increases from ₹393 to ₹408 per quintal.
The administration highlighted this measure's critical importance, framing it as a concrete agricultural solution (Krishi Samadhan). It's designed to tackle farmers' economic concerns head-on, validating their hard work and strengthening their financial foundation. CM Saini reaffirmed his government’s focus on farmer welfare, asserting that the elevated support price will bring new energy and dynamism to Haryana's agricultural sector, benefiting more than just individual growers.
By establishing the country's top support price for sugarcane, the government anticipates this groundbreaking policy will encourage other states to follow suit, ensuring a financially "sweeter" and brighter festive season for every sugarcane producer.
