What Is Canyoning?
Canyoning is an outdoor adventure where you climb, slide, jump, and rappel down waterfalls and steep rocks using ropes. It’s wet, wild, and super fun. You don’t need to be a pro. Just bring energy—and maybe a little courage!
Why Canyoning in Nepal?
Nepal is known for trekking and mountains, but guess what? It also has amazing canyons and waterfalls, especially in the hills around Kathmandu.
If you're looking for a quick, action-packed day trip near the city, Kakani Canyoning is one of the best options.
What’s Special About Kakani?
📍 Kakani is just 1.5 hours’ drive from Kathmandu. It’s peaceful, green, and full of nature. But the main star? The canyon.
The Kakani canyon has:
-
Slippery rocks
-
Gushing waterfalls
-
Cool pools
-
And vertical cliffs that you rappel down like an action movie hero 😎
My Experience: Wet, Wild, and Worth It
When I went canyoning in Kakani, I didn’t know what to expect. First, the guides gave us helmets, harnesses, and wetsuits. Then we hiked through a quiet forest. I could hear the sound of water getting louder.
And suddenly… there it was. A big, rushing waterfall.
We learned how to rappel (go down using ropes), and one by one, we slid and climbed down the falls. Water hit my face, my legs shook, and I couldn’t stop laughing.
It was scary at first—but once I let go of fear, it was pure fun.
Who Can Do It?
✅ Great for beginners ✅ Perfect for groups, friends, or solo travelers ✅ Age 14 and up ✅ You just need to be able to walk and climb a little
No climbing experience needed. The guides are there to help with everything.
