Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently inaugurated two major welfare schemes for the agriculture sector, dedicating ₹35,440 crore to the initiative.
These comprehensive programs are built around two key objectives:
- PM Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana: This aims to empower farmers in 100 specific districts.
- Dalhan Atmanirbharta Mission: This focuses on achieving self-reliance in pulses production.
Vision and Strategy
Speaking at the launch event at the Indian Agriculture Research Institute (Pusa), the Prime Minister stressed that India's agricultural output must be robust enough not only for domestic consumption but also to supply the global market. He asserted that these schemes are designed to usher in a new era of self-reliance, rural empowerment, and agricultural innovation, providing direct benefits to millions of farmers nationwide.
The PM Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana is notably inspired by the highly successful Aspirational Districts Programme model.
Key Features of the Schemes
Under the PM Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana, 36 different government initiatives will function in a unified and coordinated manner. The integrated programs include:
- The National Mission on Natural Farming.
- The 'Per Drop More Crop' campaign for efficient irrigation.
- The Oilseeds Mission to boost oilseed production.
- A special emphasis on livestock development and localized animal health campaigns.
