The inception of the Raksha Bandhan festival is shrouded in history and folklore. One of the most renowned legends associated with Rakhi is that of Lord Krishna and Draupadi. As per this folklore, Shree Krishna once hurt his finger, and Draupadi, worried and seeing Krishna’s bleeding finger, ripped a strand of her saree to bandage Krishna’s cut finger. Draupdi’s gesture touched Krishna, who then vowed to protect her. It is believed that this act of love and protection is what started the beautiful Raksha Bandhan festival.
