Lord Mahavir's Life and Philosophy
Born to a royal family in ancient India in 599 BCE, Lord Mahavir abandoned all worldly enjoyments at the age of 30 in order to lead a spiritual life. He spent 12 years of intense penance and meditation, after which he achieved Kevala Jnana (unconditional knowledge). Subsequently, he devoted the rest of his life to propagating the ideals of Jainism most importantly the "Five Great Vows": non-violence (Ahimsa), truth (Satya), non-stealing (Asteya), celibacy (Brahmacharya), and non-possessiveness (Aparigraha).
His teachings provide more than religious counsel—they are eternally practical guides for living a mindful and moral life, particularly in today's chaotic and disconnected world.
