The dual plate check valve features two semicircular D-shaped closure plates that are hinged on a central hinge pin and can freely rotate around the hinge pin's axis. In order to keep the closing plates from sagging past the intended opening, brackets also hold the stop pin that is positioned above the hinge pin. The entire assembly is then lifted and inserted perpendicular to the bottom rib of the body before being turned 90 degrees.
