As the Premier League resumes after their summer break, one of its marquee matches comes to Selhurst Park: Roy Hodgson has chosen this fixture to set Palace off to a strong start this season.

Eze manages to slip free of Martinez before unleashing a fierce shot that De Gea pushes wide.

Eberechi Eze

Eberechi Eze is an outstanding winger for Crystal Palace with an endearing personality off the pitch, including interests in fashion and online shopping. Eze is close with Braintree Town footballer Izuthe Mulatto; often seen together.

Queens Park Rangers youth player Kyle Rooney loaned him out to Wycombe Wanderers on loan in January 2017. Rooney played 22 games for Wycombe and scored five goals during this period - helping the Chairboys gain promotion to League One.

Roy Hodgson has been greatly impressed by Eze's performances since arriving at Crystal Palace this summer, and believes he will provide them with enough goal scoring potential to keep their Premier League status.

Eze scored his first goal in the 38th minute after Jordan Ayew rolled the ball up for him to tap home, following a smartly executed move involving Jordan Ayew putting Jordan Ayew through on him to set up the goal. Eze almost added another in stoppage time but Jose Sa's sprawling save denied him further scoring opportunities.

Jean-Philippe Mateta

Wolves could not respond to Palace's attacking prowess in the second half, as substitute Hee-chan made an immediate impact after coming on, with a stunning direct finish from Neto's free kick and his shoulder making contact to direct it over goalkeeper Sam Johnstone. Six minutes later Edouard burst through on Edberechi Eze's backheel flick from Jean-Philippe Mateta before firing low into the bottom corner for what would appear to be victory for Eagles.

In the final 15 minutes of this match-up, both teams came close to scoring a third goal. Jefferson Lerma's sublime pass almost set up Jordan Ayew; however Max Kilman made an outstanding save to keep him at bay. Jeffrey Schlupp failed to convert Michael Olise's cross before Edouard completed victory for Roy Hodgson's side with an effective finish that secured their victory.

Odsonne Edouard

Edouard slowly began to make an impactful contribution. After an initially subdued start, Edouard found himself in an excellent position when Joao Gomes was caught offside but unfortunately could not capitalise. Additionally, it appeared he may have won a penalty when brought down by Joao's challenge but VAR officials determined the contact wasn't sufficient enough.

Jean-Philippe Mateta flicked Joel Ward's cross off Jean-Philippe Mateta's flick and the striker calmly finished it for two goals in the 77th minute. Hwang Hee-chan managed a close range equaliser for Wolves late on but it proved futile; Wolves went down by four goals overall. Matheus Cunha added late consolation but it was too little, too late.

Edouard may not have taken to Selhurst Park like Hodgson had anticipated when he transferred from Celtic last summer, but he has shown improvement and Hodgson remains confident about his long-term prospects at Selhurst Park. With plenty of potential at his disposal, Edouard can benefit greatly from continued training and experience in England.
