A partial hip replacement, also known as hip hemiarthroplasty, is a surgical procedure designed to address hip joint damage or arthritis by replacing only the damaged part of the hip joint. This procedure is often recommended for patients with severe hip joint degeneration or fractures who have not found relief from conservative treatments. During the surgery, the damaged femoral head (the ball of the hip joint) is removed and replaced with an artificial prosthesis, while the acetabulum (the socket part of the hip joint) remains intact. This approach aims to relieve pain, improve mobility, and enhance the quality of life for patients while preserving as much of the natural hip joint as possible.
