The winter months of January and February can be a great time to apply for a new job. With the holidays typically over by this point, employees have returned to their regular work routines, allowing managers to focus on hiring goals. Department managers may present their hiring needs to supervisors in late December or early January, so it's ideal to start applying as soon as possible.

The end or beginning of the year is also when many businesses outline their budgets for the upcoming calendar quarter or year, which often includes money set aside for new hires. With an approved budget in hand, managers may immediately begin searching for candidates and making offers in January or February.
